                Volunteer Opportunities

Opportunities:

Volunteer contributions are an invaluable part of the Supportive Care Medicine team.
Every prospective volunteer in Cedars-Sinai's Supportive Care Medicine is carefully interviewed and screened by Volunteer Services to identify an individual's strengths and determine where that person would make the most positive contribution. Volunteers possess many skills and life experiences, which are carefully matched to the needs of patients, families and significant others.
Volunteers undergo a carefully planned training program before interacting with Supportive Care Medicine patients and family members. Volunteers understand that giving of themselves is reciprocated by the warm appreciation from patients, family and the Supportive Care Medicine staff.
Volunteers are needed to:
  • Visit patients and families in the hospital
  • Help with special projects
  • Reach out to bereaved individuals and families
To learn more about volunteering, please contact Volunteer Services at 310-423-8044.

Love Blankets are a joint program of the Supportive Care Medicine Team and Volunteer Services. Blankets are hand-made, either through knitting or crocheting by volunteers. These blankets are beautiful gifts, bringing extra warmth and love to our patients and their loved ones. The blankets are delivered by a Supportive Care Medicine team member to the patient’s room, and typically laid on the patient. The family is then encouraged to keep the blanket as a memento of their loved one, when they pass away. If you know how to knit or crotchet and would like to start volunteering to make blankets, please contact 310-423-8044 if your intreastead. http://www.cedars-sinai.edu/Patients/Programs-and-Services/Supportive-Care-Medicine/Supportive-Care-Medicine-Volunteer-Opportunities.aspx
